KY SERVS is a resilient, interoperable, secure, and robust statewide communications platform designed and being constructed for all disciplines of first responders (fire, emergency management, emergency medical services, and law enforcement) of all public safety agencies (state, local, and federal) represented in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the form of a 700MHz, P25 digital, encrypted, trunked radio system.
Kentucky State Police has completed design of the 700/800 MHz Statewide Emergency Responders Voice System (SERVS) which will consist of 169 repeater sites interlinked by microwave to the 16 KSP posts and managed through a central core. System installation is based upon a 3-phase plan with upgrades occurring over the next 5-10 years. Phase 1 is complete and covers the Post 1 and Post 2 areas of Western Kentucky. Phase 2 upgrades are underway throughout the western and central parts of the state and Phase 3 will involve upgrades in the eastern part of the state. Public Safety agencies are highly encouraged to participate in this statewide interoperability system for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
